It doesn’t matter who you are or what you want to achieve, you will struggle to reach your goals unless you take control of your internal communication with yourself.
The reason for this is that whether or not we are moving towards or away from our goal is firstly determined by our self talk. If for example your goal was to lose 10 pounds but you believed that in order to do this you would need to have tremendous amounts of willpower, which based on past experiences you didn’t have. Then it is possible that you might not even get started or at best you may start to make changes and then at the first sign of a piece of chocolate cake you would give in, which would provide you with yet another reference that proves you have no willpower.
Unfortunately unless you decide not to believe that you have a lack of willpower and instead believe that the past does not equal the future and you have as much control over what you eat as you want to believe you have, then you will never be able to move forward and will constantly be yo yo dieting.
It is so important to realise that our thoughts are just thoughts and that the only meaning they have is the one we decide they have. Therefore I would stress to you that if you want to achieve any goal then you need to create some awareness of the thoughts that are or have prevented you so far. Because once you have the awareness of these then you have the opportunity to make new empowering decisions.
I have listed below some empowering thoughts that I have found over the years to be very supportive in helping me move towards my goals.
“There is no such thing as failure. There are only results” Tony Robbins
“Nothing tastes as good as fit, slim and healthy feels” Unknown
“Your time is limited so don’t waste it living someone else’s life” Steve Jobs
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” Wayne Gretzky
“The past does not equal the future” Unknown
“I create my own reality and am responsible for what I create” Unknown
“We become what we think about” Earl Nightingale
“If you do what you’ve always done, your get what you’ve always gotten” Tony Robbins
“Don’t wait the time will never be just right” Napoleon Hill
“Believe you can and your half way there” Theodore Roosevelt
Always remember that what you think and believe will shape the direction of your life, make sure that your thoughts are sending you in the direction you desire.
